My adventures in ADD Bipolar 2 OCD and PTSD 24 hours post diagnosis

24 hours post diagnosis.

This morning I had grand plans of waking up early and really getting into today.

I had a late start (Well, early for me. 8:30 am wake up). Not to be deterred from my original goal, I took charge and began getting ready for the day.

I am supposed to avoid a lot of caffeine. Not an easy task for a guy that drinks a LARGE iced coffee with 2 shots of espresso in it. I ordered my coffee sans the shots.

The 2 medications I have been prescribed are Lamictal (Bipolar 2) and Vyvanse (ADD). I was informed it could take a few weeks for everything to start working.

WRONG!

My resting heart rate for the last 5 years has been 66-72 bpm. An hour after taking the meds, my heart rate was at 102bmp. I am experiencing clarity in my thought process and I am very excited by this. I am also in less control of my emotions as I am very regretful for not doing this sooner. I keep getting goosebumps when I start and FINISH chores. I believe I am on a pink cloud and this will fade eventually. Although, I must admit, it feels damn good being, “normal!”

I have begun monitoring my heart rate every hour. It has kept me on task for finishing chores around the house. I think this will be one of my coping mechanisms as it seems to keep me busy enough to keep going on my list

I have also noticed I am a bit more forgetful and have a slight problem spelling (That has been the most interesting part). I am more aware of my appearance and this is something that I would not have thought would happen.

My thoughts? This is the best birthday present I could have given myself.

With the encouraging comments I received on my last ADD post, I wish to thank you all for your support. YOU have helped me immensely! My family has also stepped up and they have really helped  me. I never knew how much my family cared until I, “broke” this news too them. I am in AWE!

@Fredgarrett vs @trent_reznor twitter flame war

My original intention was to blog about Trent Reznor calling me out.

After letting this percolate for a few days, and seeing the amount of hate that has come from the mans mind in the meantime…

I decided to write about what made me start this in the first place.

Full circle as it were.

The power a celebrity has in today’s day and age. Having the ability to, “release the hounds” at a moments notice to hundreds and thousands of people in real time web 2.0 fashion.

I would like to share some interesting numbers with you;

At the time Trent Reznor, “went off on me”. He had ~600k+ followers.

~10% made their way to my blog in the first day or so.

~10%! Nowhere NEAR what I expected.

Everything else follows (loosely) the same 10% rule.

~10% of those kept checking it.

~10% of those commented.

Of those that commented, ~10% threatened me.

The interesting fact that came along…

Publicly of the people that bashed me, only a handful actually attempted to gain my information. There was a picture of me tweeted, while others attempting email bombs and pornados. These failed as I expected the worst and only menial attempts were made. The picture that made its way out there, was from a video clip that appears elsewhere on my blog, that video made it out there too. Were threats issued? Certainly. Were they followed through with? Nope!

I expected the worst because I knew who I was dealing with. Trent Reznor is a computer genius and would love to monitor every thing people do or say. Just read that last rant he made on the board. “In a closed environment like nin.com a lot of this can be moderated away, or code can be implemented to make it more difficult for troublemakers to persist.” I have emails from people detailing just how deep Trent Reznor went in his attack against them. Mainly because they signed up on a NIN support board and spoke out against him, or said something he did not like. Trent, you do not control everything, and you might want to get used to that idea…

Perhaps celebrities do not posses the power they and we think. It would appear that way in this case. I had a bunch of people making snide remarks and met some wonderful people along the way.

Dangerous?

The way I see it;

Perhaps because I am not signed up to any of his feeds, or commenting on his fan sites, my information remained, “anonymous” to him. Yet here I am. I have said many times before, I am not a fan of an unbalanced scale. Sometimes I tend to OVER balance things.

I figured you would have some nutty stalker trying to out me. I never figured in a million years YOU were that nutty stalker. After reading all of the horrible things you have publicly said and done to people, I am saddened that your career ended like this and seeing what a control freak you are, perhaps you should stick to music.

Since you only seem to understand vulgarity… NOPE. I wont do it. You will not lower my standards to your level.

I was never asked  into this, as a matter of fact, I made an observation and decided to blog about it…

AND blog I did.

Following the same vein of censorship…

One of the most concerning things I did see, was the #Eric fans. At one point actually attempting to silence me and others by concocting a plan and directing complaints to spam at twitter.

Know this, I am an American, born and raised. I will stand up against tyranny EVERY time. Try censoring me and see where it gets you.

This follow up is mainly aimed at the PR stunt @trent_reznor has embarked upon.

The timing of this was dead on. He flames a fan, and his activity on twitter almost comes to a dead stop. @trent_reznor on a normal day could be seen tweeting 50 times. After he attacked and outed a fan (BTW NOT THE FIRST TIME HE HAS DONE THIS KIND OF THING) his twittering STOPS.

Then… Without notice, he tweets about helping someone named #eric.

#Eric is a MAN that has obviously pulled at a LOT of heart strings. More true, his sister has. Veronica or @VeronicaDLCruz has pulled them for him.

I tend to look at things a little different than the next guy/gal. So, when I saw this, I instantly started digging.

#Eric;

It sounds like a great cause. Guy, caught up in the system. He can’t catch a break and the evil empire refuses to help him.

WOW, those bastards, where do I sign up to help this kid?

Wait!

Why is the evil empire refusing him help?

#Eric has NO medical insurance and has a heart condition that requires a transplant!

What does #Eric do that he does not have insurance?!

Surely he is not some independent graphic artist that makes graffiti or a DJ or something like that…right?

Does this condition happen over night?!

Is it possible to SUDDENLY need a heart transplant? Like, I drank some milk past its due date and suddenly I need a heart transplant?

OK, so…

Poor career decision, cool, got it. But that does NOT explain why he SUDDENLY needs a heart transplant.

Nothing EVER could, this was not sudden. This was always on the horizon and poor planning caught up with him.

For the MASSIVE amount of people that will be calling me a hypocrite, I am not outing any of the personal information I have gathered on this subject. I DO have a massive amount of information on this subject and I doubt the #eric people to put a picture of #eric up that is more current because HIS SISTER knows how to use the public.

I am not saying she has done anything wrong either. If it were my brother, I would do it too!

BUT, I highly doubt the people donating know/knew anything other than what his sister has, “allowed” to be public. Her strongest argument was that our health care system is flawed. I agree, but I have health insurance and I do not have any preexisting conditions.

Does she really expect us to switch to socialized medical care?

OR

Was this whole thing aimed at helping her brother only?

Did Trent Reznor, jump on board as a way to, “FIX” his bad behavior?

I can see through the PR stunt. It certainly was.

@trent_reznor you have some good PR people working for you, you might want to quit working against them. For your careers sake at least.

Not 5 hours after posting this blog, Trent Reznor seems to have had a meltdown with social media.

What IS Going Green, REALLY?

Know these statements?

“Go GREEN” … “Paperless” … “Reduce Your Carbon Footprint” … “Reduce Reuse Recycle“

I sure do. Where I live, we have more Hybrid/Electric cars that have these statements slapped across their bumpers and windows than you can shake a stick at. AS LONG AS you found that stick on the ground and are planning on using it in your composting heap!

I live in the center of the earth for technology, art, food and culture. The place where it all started. Silicon Valley California. Yep, we are very GREEN here.

Oddly enough, I live where we are not required to separate any of our trash. We have prisons full of people here that get that fun job. So I can rest, safely with the knowledge that, I do not have to do a menial task that other parts of the bay area and country are required too.

Makes me feel kind of  special.

So I am doing my part in being green, by well, not doing anything. The American Dream

I drive one of the most environmentally unfriendly vehicles there is. A Monster Jeep 4X4.

Why?

One of the really interesting facts about those hybrid/electric cars;

They like to drive in the fast lanes.

WHY? They barely get to 55 going up the hills and mountains around here. This phenomenon has boggled locals since these cars began showing up here.

So, WHY do I drive a lifted Monster Jeep? To annoy those driving these glorified scooters. Plain and simple. That and if our country is ever devastated (Think- Terminator), I will have no problems traveling around.

I am going to start looking around and dissecting some, “green” companies and seeing what they claim, “green” is.

Suggestions are greatly appreciated, and please do check back as I will begin looking into this…

UPDATE:

I want to do an experiment of sorts.

Of the companies that are claiming to be, “green” how much of their budget goes towards advertising on-line?

I have seen an increase of mailer advertising come to my house recently (ALL of them printed on recycled paper).  I checked on-line to see if any of these companies advertise there.

MOST of them do NOT.

WHY?!

Is it the cost?

Is it that they can not verify that a customer came to them because of an advertisement?

Are they just afraid of technology?

Today is a new day…

I must admit. This blogging seems to be a very interesting way of writing. I am still not used to it, yet.

Work has been AMAZING! Our entire company is gearing up for a trip to Las Vegas! I can hardly imagine how much fun it will be to have all of the LeapFish crew there!

The wife arrived home and was in good spirits from her journey to the north. She came home to find I had followed all the rules that were left!

• Did NOT go to jail
• Did NOT burn the house down
• Participated in the care and feeding of FRED

The puppies missed her so much, that they have totally ignored the fact I am even here.

Today is the day I clean out the Jeep. I tend to be a slob when it comes to my vehicles. I have already wasted enough time playing here on the computer (getting caught up on all the news that has happened) that I am beginning to get the evil eye and this is NOT good. I will get a picture up here AFTER I clean it so everyone can see

My crazy life…

This week will be an interesting one.

My wife has flown to Vancouver BC. For those that know me know this is not exactly a, “good thing“.

It will be me, Sherman and Cooper against the world.

My instructions are fairly simple;

• DO NOT burn down the house.
• DO NOT go to jail.
• DO NOT forget to take part in the care and feeding of FRED.

While this seems like a list ANYONE could handle, it is far from that easy for me. I will be reading as many books as I can and trying my best NOT to play on the computer until 4am every morning.

I will likely bury myself in work, so as not too get in trouble. So if anyone out there wants to buy permanent on-line advertising, for a one time registration fee, feel free to get in touch with me. I can have your ad up in minutes!

It is going to be a long week.

I may start checking out other blogs and writing about them, just for fun
